KUWAIT : The Kuwait National Cinema Company (KNCC) is making all-out efforts to resolve a 'technical problem' with a Dubai-based Indian movie distributor in an effort to resume screening of Indian films in Kuwait, says the Public Relations Manager of KNCC, Hind Ahmad Al-Nahedh. This comes after the distributor stopped supplying KNCC with Indian films two weeks ago. Al-Nahedh was unable to say as when the screening of Hindi films will be resumed but expressed hope that the dispute will be settled as soon as possible.

"We are also in negotiations with a movie distributor in India and talks are moving in the right direction. There is a huge demand for Bollywood films in Kuwait, and we want to do everything in our capacity to bring back the entertainment to our customers as early as possible," she added. Bollywood films have a following in Kuwait among many nationals including Indians, Pakistanis, Bangladeshis, Sri Lankans, Kuwaitis, among others. Indian regional language films including: Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam are also screened in Kuwait.

Earlier, some Bollywood film fans had expressed disappointment over non-screening of Hindi films by KNCC. A Hindi movie buff, who identified himself as Amit Kumar, rued the missed opportunity of watching new Hindi film releases and noted that he was eagerly awaiting to watch superstar Sharukh Khan's new film "Om Shanti Om," which opened at the box office, last week, amidst rave reviews. Pirated copies of latest Bollywood films are available in Kuwait days after their release.
