KUWAIT, Aug 25 (KUNA) -- In cooperation with the Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO), the Kuwaiti Minister of Information Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Sabah is to inaugurate a meeting on Tuesday, for a committee of Arab experts that are to update a comprehensive plan for Arab culture.

In a press briefing, Secretary General of the National Council for Culture, Arts and Letters (NCCAL) of Kuwait, Bader Al-Rifai, said on Monday, that the two-day meeting is to discuss creativity and the freedom of expression as well as culture and its relation to communication, the media, science and human heritage.

The Arab cultural comprehensive plan was conceived in the Arab Culture Ministers' meeting of 1979 and was adopted by Kuwait, who agreed to hold talks on the matter due to its commitment to the cause, Al-Rifai stated.

A committee was later formed consisting of 17 prominent Arab thinkers in the fields of literature and art.

The committee through a period of four years, have organized 27 forums, with the participation of 600 researchers and intellectuals from the Arab world.

The forums have resulted in the conclusion of 55 dissertations so far on various items. Kuwait has carried out the documentation of these results in six published volumes.
