KUWAIT: Khalid Al-Obaidan Al-Hajri, Head of the Laborer's Syndicate at the Kuwait National Petroleum Company (KNPC) has criticized company officials for installing surveillance cameras at the company's entrance. He felt this move was taken to 'spy' on security guards deployed there. Al-Hajri added that these CCTV cameras have audio and video capacity to capture the movements of these security officers. This has a negative repercussion on their psyche, stating that they will not be able to even place a phone call to their families without the cameras encroaching on their privacy.

Furthermore, Al-Hajri asserted that these guards should be trusted as they have undergone grueling training sessions prior to appointment.

They investigated why these cameras were installed only at one gate, while they were not installed at any other premises, reported Al-Watan. He further stated that these cameras violate employees' rights, hinting at the handiwork of some vested interest groups. He also called the Minister of Oil, Ahmad Al-Abdullah Al-Sabah to intervene.
