KUWAIT CITY - The General Traffic Department (GTD) has announced the closure of some roads -- from 11:30 am until 1:30 pm -- on Dec 14, the first day of the GCC Summit in Kuwait. In a press release Saturday, GTD enumerated the affected roads, including King Faisal Road -- from Kuwait International Airport until its intersection with the Fifth Ring Road; main King Faisal Road -- from Kuwait City after Yarmouk going towards the airport -- which will be diverted to the Fifth Ring Road as an alternate route for those coming from Jahra and Salmiya; main King Fahad Road -- from Kuwait City with the Fifth Ring Road as alternate route for those coming from Jahra and Salmiya; King Fahad Road -- from Fahaheel and diverted to the Sixth Ring Road for both sides, the left for those going towards Jahra and the right for those going towards Salmiya; partial closure of the intersection between the Fifth Ring Road and King Fahad Road from Salmiya to Ahmadi only, while the other side going towards Kuwait City will remain open; King Khalid Bin Abdulaziz Road -- from Kheitan Club Bridge until Mishref Bridge with King Fahad Road, including all intersections; and Subhan Road -- from the intersection between the Seventh Ring Road and Subhan until the intersection between Subhan and the airport.

Motorists going towards Kuwait International Airport can take the Airport Road towards the Sixth Ring Road until the cargo station or Ghazali Road until the intersection between the cargo station and the airport. For those going to Sheikh Saad Abdullah Airport, they have to take Subhan Bridge from King Fahad Road (208). Meanwhile, alternative routes include all the seven ring roads (First to Seventh ring roads) for those going to Jahra and Salmiya, Ghazali Road, King Abdulaziz Road (Fahaheel) -- both directions, and Airport Road opposite Farwaniya. The department has advised the public to cooperate with the security officers and strictly comply with the directives to ensure the success of the summit.
