KUWAIT: National Assembly Speaker Jassem Al-Khorafi expressed gratitude and appreciation to His Highness the (caretaker) Prime Minister Sheikh Nasser Al-Mohammed and cabinet members for their services to Kuwait. He expressed hope that they would have the opportunity to serve Kuwait in the future.

He denied reports that National Assembly Council intends to withdraw complaints filed against protesters that stormed the Assembly. "It is only a report about the incident, and the decision should be issued by the Public Prosecution Department. An action will be taken by Public Prosecution Department.

He added," Withdrawing the case, will not erase it. Musallam Al-Barrak should have thought twice before breaking the door open. But now, after the wrong doing which was denounced by all Kuwaitis, where are you? Why didn't you think before acting?.

He said that he hoped the detainees will not remain imprisoned for long, and that their release can be secured against guarantors. "I wish that Public Prosecution Department will hold MPs who broke into the council accountable.

When asked His Highness the Amir would declare martial law, he answered that it would not happen in Kuwait. "His Highness the Amir will evaluate the situation." He was also quick to dismiss questions related to why the PPD failed to arrest lawmakers promptly.

Al-Khorafi said, "I am not authorized to answer on behalf of the PPD, and I don't know who the people are. The concerned cases were referred to PPD from banks in connection with money laundering, and the role will be completed once it lies in the hands of the PPD.

When asked if the National Assembly Council would be dissolved, Al-Khorafi said, "His Highness the Amir should decide that. Only he can assess the situation and make decisions.
