KUWAIT: The Civil Aviation Authority has contracted a reputable security company to install new, state-of-the-art inspection equipment in various parts of Kuwait International Airport. The authority noted that the equipment is deemed to be one of the best pieces of inspection equipment and can detect explosives of all sorts.
The Civil Aviation Authority is still deciding on which locations the new security equipment will be placed. However, the authority noted that the inspection equipment will definitely be installed at the passenger luggage area within the next few months. In another development, Kuwait Airways plane avoided disaster in midair last Thursday when smoke came out of one of its engines. Sources said the captain of the Qatar bound aircraft (Airbus 310) noticed smoke coming out of an engine so he asked for emergency landing permission in Bahrain airport.
In an instant reaction to the incident, official sources said an investigation committee was formed to find out who was responsible for the defects. Moreover, the sources questioned the quality and level of the airplane's maintenance and those responsible for it.
