MUSCAT -- Knowledge Oman (KO), a leading knowledge sharing community platform, has tied up with Nokia in a nationwide initiative designed to put the Sultanate onto the world of digital mapping. The initiative brings vital information about Oman from locations, sites, points of interest, historical information  under one robust mobile application specifically created for the Sultanate, Discover Oman. Discover Oman, a mobile app available to Nokia Lumia handsets, will allow the users to search for attractions and places to visit in Oman, read information, look at pictures and videos, uploaded by users, raising awareness on things to do whilst in Oman

Salma Massoud, Head of App Marketing, Nokia commented: "Oman is home to historical landmarks, mountains and wadis with scenic views, giving a cultural experience to tourists visiting Oman for the first time, as well as to regular visitors. We are excited to be leading an initiative that brings Oman to life in a unique way through mobile technology. ." Knowledge Oman will work closely with Nokia and its official mobile distributor Mohsin Haider Darwish to train and engage with students from the college and universities on how to become map creators and add roads and points of interests on Oman map. Furthermore, training will also be offered on how to locate, add and update places on the map that includes pictures and videos.
