Chairman Hails Co Achievement
KUWAIT CITY, May 4
Kuwait National Petroleum Company (KNPC) received the IAE International Arch of Europe Quality Award in the Golden Category due to commitment to Quality, Leadership, Technology and Innovation. The company represents success for Kuwait in the business world as well. The IAE International Arch of Europe Award acknowledges the strong commitment to quality and excellence by KNPC. Fahed Salem Al-Ajmi, Chairman and Managing Director, received the IAE award at the InterContinental Convention Hall of Frankfort, from the president of Business Initiative Directions (B.I.D) Jose Prieto. Furthermore, KNPC makes quality a core focus for continuous improvement of management to maintain leadership in its sector and community. Meanwhile, KNPC Chairman said that the company is proud to obtain this international award which represents a global recognition of the role of KNPC in improving business management according to the international quality criteria, therefore KNPC is the sole oil and gas company that obtained this great global award.
Excellency
On his part, the Director of Corporate Communication Department at KNPC Mohammad Mansour Al-Ajmi said, after the delegation's return to Kuwait, we are happy to get such award that reflects the company commitment to the international quality criteria as well as showing excellency of Kuwaiti oil sector and its great role for spreading oil culture at the community, adding that the award is a clear example for leadership, creativity and preserving environment. We present this award to our dear country and its leadership, said Al-Ajmi. However, B.I.D International Quality Convention and presentation of the 2013 International Quality Awards took place on April 28th in the Frankfort InterContinental Convention Hall. The event was presided over by Jose E. Prieto, President and CEO of B.I.D., along with outstanding personalities from the business world and diplomatic corps. The B.I.D. quality symbol is present in 178 countries around the world, creating a firm ground for the implementation of integral quality processes through the technology and procedures of the QC 100 model of the Total Quality Management.
Innovation
According to Jose Prieto "the Award recipients are symbols of commitment to leadership, technology and innovation, making them models for others in their sectors." The companies from Europe, American, Africa, Asia, Oceania and the Middle East received the B.I.D. International Quality Award in recognition of their achievements in spreading Quality culture. For their commitment to quality, those awarded join the historic group of prestigious B.I.D. Quality Award Winners. Among these outstanding companies are: KNPC, Kuwait; Ansaldo Energia, Italy; RAO-Unified Energy Systems of Russia; Turner Construction of the USA and many other leading companies. On the other hand, KNPC was the first national oil and gas company, founded in 1960, in a region once dominated by foreign companies and it is the sole oil and gas company that obtained this global award. Today it employs over 5,000 workers and last year reported profits of over $1.6 billion.
