SHARJAH, 16th March, 2014 (WAM) -- Knowledge Without Borders, KWB, has started distributing books to Emirati families in Al Dhaid City and nearby areas as part of the 12th phase of its home library distribution campaign in the Emirate of Sharjah. While the programme will ultimately cover 4,500 households, the first day saw the distribution of 50 books to each of 30 Al Dhaid City families.

Rashid Al Kous, General Manager of Knowledge Without Borders, stated that the distribution process in the area has commenced as planned, without any problems or delays, due to the cooperation of the team as well as the facilities provided by the branch of the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the official headquarters for the distribution of home libraries. The distribution process will continue until the end of 2015.

Mr. Al Kous noted that each library includes 50 valuable Arabic books which have been carefully selected to cover various areas of knowledge and to cater to the various ages and interests of people living in the areas where the books are being distributed.

He said, "Al Dhaid is located in the heart of the central region in the Emirate of Sharjah, and is characterised by its vast agricultural lands and the proliferation of houses along its geographic boundaries. Therefore, we were very keen to reach out to these citizens in order to communicate with them, to identify their cultural interests and to determine what kinds of books they wanted to read. We were then able to choose appropriate books; books that would lead to self-development while enriching their diverse cultural spectrum."The Al Dhaid phase of the project is the penultimate planned phase for the distribution of libraries to national families in Sharjah. The first 11 phases were completed by the end of 2013, and covered 13,000 families in Khorfakkan, Kalba, Dibba Al Hisn, Al Mulaiha, Al Madam, Al Hamriyah, Shais, Wadi Al Helo, Al Nahwa, Al Sajaa and Nazwa. The 13th and final phase of the project will include the city of Sharjah and its outskirts.
