JEDDAH: The Four Seasons Hotel George V in Paris owned by the Kingdom Holding Company (KHC) has been named the best city hotel in the world by Ultratravel magazine.

KHC Chairman Prince Alwaleed bin Talal said the award was an "historical achievement".

The George V's Le Cinq restaurant, owned by renowned chef Philippe Legendre, was recently awarded its third Michelin star.

The hotel was also named top international hotel by ZAGAT in 2007 and best international business hotel by Conde Nast Traveler in 2006, among others.

Prince Alwaleed acquired the George V in 1996 for $178 million and began a two-year $125 million renovation program in December 1997.

Since reopening in mid December 1999, the Four Seasons George V has become internationally-renowned for its top-notch services.

"I am confident that the George V with its new look will be the crown jewel of hotels in the world. Great efforts have been exerted to offer the best luxury services. I am sure that guests of the George V will experience unparalleled service," Prince Alwaleed said at the time.
