Custodian of Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah stands out as a role model for the entire Muslim nation, said Palestine Consul General Emad Shaat on an occasion marking the king's nine-year anniversary in power.
Shaat referred to King Abdullah as a pioneer and architect in bringing about stability among GCC countries as also the Muslim nations at large.
Over 400 Saudi businessmen, celebrities and socialites gathered to celebrate the anniversary.
"The nation is celebrating nine glorious years of impeccable leadership under Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah," said Saud Al-Sheikhi, general manager of the Media Affairs Committee for the Makkah region.
"This golden era is marked by unprecedented economic growth and social development across the Kingdom and far-reaching regional and international peace initiatives."
Attendees among Saudi dignitaries and businessmen included Saleh Al-Shamrani, public relations chief at the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Abdullah Al-Khasrami, Taleh Al-Fahmi, Abdul Samad Al-Sulaimani, Khaled Al-Shehri, Khaled Bakar, Abdullah Al-Hatmi and Muhammed Alawi.
Saudi Television celebrity Mohammed Baksh, Saudi football player Mohammad Fouda and Saudi artist Hasan Iskanderani also attended the event.
Hosted by prominent artist Mohammad Al-Raye, the event was also attended by Rohail Khan, a philanthropist, representing the expatriate community.
Ahmed Al-Farooqui inaugurated proceedings, which began with a recitation from the Qur'an by Hafiz Yaseen, followed by a performance by folk artist Anas Abul Khair.
Arabic poetry was read out by Hamad Al-Ghamdi, Umer Al-Sabban, Khalid Al-Ghamdi, and Khizer Al-Lahyani.
Mementos were awarded to guests as a token of gratitude for their participation.
Collective prayers were held for the good health and longevity of the Saudi king and for continued growth and progress in the Kingdom.
