MUSCAT -- The much-awaited Khimji's supermarket in Saham with a strong focus on Omanisation and set to become a new landmark in that area, will be inaugurated tomorrow.

Sheikh Faisal bin Ali bin Rashid Al Zaidi, deputy wali of Saham will inaugurate the supermarket amidst much excitement and fanfare, it was announced at a press conference held yesterday. The partner-directors of Khimji's Mart LLC, Kanak G. Khimji, Anil Khimji and Nailesh Khimji will be present at the inaugural function.

Officials of Khimji's Mart underscored the fact that their supermarket is located in a central location and people living in wilayats of Khabourah, Al Qasabiyah, Maqaisah, Qasif, Al Hijari, Al Huwayl, Dil Al Baraik etc. would also benefit from the opening of Khimji's Mart in Saham.

Khimji's Mart, Saham is the eleventh supermarket of the Khimji's Retail Division. Khimji's Mart today is the largest chain of supermarkets in Oman, with five of them in the capital and the others in interior locations of the country. The quick growth in the hinterland over the last few years stems from the Group's strategy to consolidate its presence in the organised retail industry in Oman by opening outlets in both category 'A and 'B' towns. "The objectives of opening such stores has been two fold -- firstly to provide consumer with convenient shopping in their native place but more importantly to generate employment for young Omanis. This helps not only in the employment but also in the development of the local economy," said Pankaj Khimji, director, Khimji Ramdas. Sheikh Faisal bin Ali bin Rashid Al Zaidi, in a message congratulating the company said: "I am really happy to know that Khimji Ramdas is opening its 11th Khimji's Mart at Saham. Over the years Khimji's Ramdas has played a key role in the development of the nation's economy through various businesses and services."

Saham Khimji's Mart spanning over 20,000sqft houses a wide range of products catering to the daily needs of the consumers and giving them the best convenience and value for the entire needs of the family.

The group, which lays strong emphasis on Omanisation, has recruited and trained more than 23 Omanis for its Saham mart. These young Omani's were trained at Khimji's Training Institute, Darsait for a period of 6 months where they were taught the Basic English, mathematics & customer service skills.

The Ministry of Manpower has been appreciative of the efforts being put in by Khimji's Mart to train young Omanis to improve their employment capabilities.

Said Saif Ali Al Miqbali from the Ministry of Manpower commented: "We are really happy to know that Khimji's Mart is opening its new outlet at Saham. Being one of the largest private corporate in the Sultanate, Khimji Ramdas has created many opportunities towards the empowerment of its citizens, through its excellent training and development programmes."

On this occasion, Khimji's Mart has announced various special promotions for their new customers.
