Dubai,Sept.9th, 2007 (WAM) --- Knowledge and Human DevelopmentAuthority (KHDA) has launched its Excellence Unit as the firststep to spread the culture of excellence and to put forward theprinciples of quality management, performance management, programmanagement and customer programs management. The unit has alsoestablished in-house, a Health and Safety and Environment managementteam for KHDA and its projects.
Dr. Abdulla Al Karam, Chairman of the Board of Directors andDirector General of KHDA said, "The Excellence Unit is indispensableif we are to elevate the level of education in the country. Ourcommitment to education and excellence is obvious and we willleave no stone unturned to accomplish it."Dr. Wafi Dawood has recently joined KHDA as the Executive Headof the Excellence Unit and will aid in achieving KHDA's objectivesin the sector of excellence and total quality management. Hewill also assist in establishing the shared services unit thatwill include HR, IT, Communication & Marketing, Finance and Legaland Administrative affairs. In 2004, H.H. Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice Presidentand Prime Minister of UAE, Ruler of Dubai awarded Dr. Dawoodthe Distinguished Employee of Dubai in the Dubai Government ExcellenceProgram, for his initiatives in bringing and implementing bestpractices in Dubai. As a comment to his appointment Dr. Wafi said, "The KHDA strategyaims to achieve a culture of excellence in education and knowledgewhich goes in accordance with the Dubai Strategic Plan. The teamin the Excellence Unit and the Shared Services unit will workto apply best practices from around the world to ensure thatachieving excellence standards that are given for KHDA."KHDA establishes Excellence Unit
