KUWAIT CITY: Chairman of the Workers Union at Kuwait Gulf Oil Company (KGOC) Falah Al-Askar has announced a plan to designate a special route for employees assigned to Khafji Joint Operations. In a press release Saturday, Al-Askar explained the special route will lessen travel time to and from Khafji. He also commended the KGOC board of directors for exerting tremendous efforts to ease daily travel for employees, who are protecting Kuwait's shares in Khafji.
Affirming the board is working hard to address the problems of workers in coordination with the management of the company, Al-Askar revealed the union has communicated with the management on the need to designate a special route for employees traveling to and from Khafji daily. He pointed out the union has a huge responsibility but it can handle everything through a strong coordination with the concerned authorities. He said the union is keen on protecting the rights of employees, in addition to improving their social and financial status.
Expressing his gratitude to Undersecretary of the Interior Ministry Lieutenant General Ahmed Al-Rajeeb and General Manager of the General Customs Department Ibrahim Al-Ghanem for their continuous support to the employees, Al-Askar said both officials have granted the employees easy access to the borders while going to and from Khafji. He added a special path has been designated for the employees for crossing the border so they no longer go through the procedures like ordinary passengers. This, he said, will help the employees save travel time, especially during the peak season when there is a remarkable increase in the number of passengers going through the borders. Al-Askar also thanked Al-Nuwaiseeb Border Manager Brigadier Khalid Hussein Al-Kandari, Supervisor Waleed Mohammed Al-Mutawah and other officials at the border.
