A 15-day summer camp aimed at making young Keralite children in the UAE aware of their mother tongue and culture will be held in Dubai from August 1.
Known as Amma Malayalam, the camp is the brainchild of U.K. Nair, a resident of Sharjah. Participants in the camp will be able to interact with 13 prominent literary and cultural personalities from Kerala.
It will be opened by M.T Vasudevan Nair, Gnanpith award winner and reputed Malayalam writer, at 7.30pm on July 7 at the Indian Consulate auditorium.
The other personalities who will be involved in the camp include Dr Sukumar Azhicode, literary critic; Paul Zachariah, novelist and short story writer; actor Bharat Murali; Rose Mary, poet; V.R. Sudhish, short story writer and lyricist; N.K. Ravindaran, News bureau chief, Asianet television; K.C Narayanan, Chief Editor of Bhasha Poshini; Mukundanunni, musician; Joy Mathew, theatre personality; V.K. Sasidharan, folklore artist; Dr Krishna Kumar, child psychologist; and Sister Nirmal, Malayalam professor.
