DOHA - The Public Transport Company, Mowasalat, has set-up a new and dedicated Karwa taxi stand on the inside covered entrance of Dasman Shopping Center. The specially Karwa marked taxi bay can accommodate up to four taxis on a waiting time and can be easily accessed by the customers of Dasman Center.

The drivers, equipped with digital trunk radio system notify the call centre to deploy the nearest available Karwa taxi within the vicinity to fill-in the bay area for the next customer of the shopping centre.

"We are more than glad to set-up a taxi rank at Dasman Shopping Center similar to what we provided years back with City Center, The Centerpoint, Jarir Bookstore and at Hamad Hospital. During the Ramadan period, customers of Dasman Center can expect taxis in this bay area during the center's operational timings where people come to shop. Customers wanting to come to Dasman from their homes or offices can simply call our popular number 458 8888 or hail one along the road," said Ahmed Al Ansari, Business Development Director.

"In fact, this is just the beginning; strategic ranks are now being coordinated and will be set-up in the next months ahead. All these are to provide convenience to our passengers which are customers of many establishments. Adding ranks on suitable locations are strategic both for us at Karwa and for establishment owners with a good number of customers that uses our mode of transportation," he added.

Karwa, operated by Mowasalat, as the exclusive public transport provider, have a growing taxi fleet of more than 2,000. Additional brand new units are scheduled to replace the four-year old cars for a safer and more comfortable transport experience.

Up ahead, 50 clean LPG converted taxis will be on the streets in the effort to provide environment-friendly transportation in Qatar.
