Abu Dhabi, July 24th, 2011 (WAM) -- Kalima, the translation project of the Abu Dhabi Authority for Culture and Heritage, has published the Arabic translation of Noble Prize-winning Herta Mullers "Der Mensch ist ein groBer Fasan auf der Welt" (The Passport). The book is translated by Dr. Nabil Al Haffar.
The German writer, winner of Nobel Prize for Literature in 2009, tells the story of a family living under Ceausescus rule in Romania during the late 1980s.The family applies for permission to immigrate to Germany, after being subject to persecution and harassment. The familys only daughter is forced to offer herself in order to obtain the passports.
The writer describes the suffering of the non-Nazi German-Romanian minority in the Soviet Labor Camps, and discussed the development of psychological problems amongst the victims. The report of the 2009 Nobel Prize for Literature, praised the specificity of narrative style and amazing pictures which approach poetry in their nature.
