AMMAN (Petra) - Prime Minister Marouf Bakhit on Wednesday stressed the government's support for the tourism sector. At a meeting with Jordan Tourism Board (JTB) representatives working in 14 countries in Europe, Russia and North America, Bakhit expressed appreciation for marketing the Kingdom's tourist attractions. During the meeting, attended by Tourism Minister Osama Dabbas and JTB Director General Nayef Fayez, JTB representatives briefed Bakhit on promotional campaigns being implemented to encourage more tourists to visit the Kingdom.
Bakhit underlined Jordan's high expectations from this sector and urged the JTB representatives to intensify their promotion and marketing programmes to boost the country's image as a multipurpose tourist attraction. Highlighting the various projects the country proposes to implement in the next few years, Bakhit pointed out that the number of hotel rooms will double in 10 years in order to meet the expected increase in tourists.
