MUSCAT -- Alila Hotels and Resorts group, globally renowned for offering surprisingly different lifestyle concepts and guest experiences, are primed to take over management of the completed Jabal Akhdar Hotel from Omran, the Sultanate's tourism-related development, hospitality management and Investment Company. Alila, voted 'Coolest Hotel Chain' in 2011 and top 40 Global Luxury Brands in 2012, manages unique city hotels and resorts in the Asia Pacific region and have developed a global following of discerning clients, that subscribe to the Alila philosophy of creating memorable and sustainable experiences in some of the world's most spectacular locations. The official handover, which is expected to take place in December, will allow the Alila Hotels & Resorts Group to welcome guests in Q2, 2014.

"Alila is delighted to have been chosen to manage such a prestigious and unique hotel in such a breathtaking location. The Jabal Akhdar region is perfect for our first foray into the Middle East. Its combination of interesting natural eco-systems, physical beauty and intriguing history and culture perfectly fit within our development philosophy," noted Mark Edleson, the President of Alila Hotels & Resorts. "Our operations team looks forward to delivering the 'Alila Experience' to guests when we open our doors in 2014." Set 2,000 metres above sea level, overlooking a dramatic gorge with stunning views of the Hajar Mountains, Alila Jabal Akhdar is perfectly positioned to explore the region's renowned rugged landscapes, a haven for adventure travellers, nature lovers and those seeking an escape from the desert heat.

Once opened, the Alila Jabal Akhdar will take its place as one of Alila's Lifestyle Collection, offering guests the authentic 'Alila Experience' that is centred on building unique 'emotional moments' between the guest, the hotel and the destination. "The handover of this landmark project is yet another milestone for the growth of tourism in the Sultanate and we look forward to working with Alila Hotels & Resorts to ensure its success," added Wael al Lawati, the CEO of Omran. In line with Alila's philosophies, Alila Jabal Akhdar will provide visitors with access to one of Oman's most magnificent yet untapped region. The exterior and interior of the resort has been designed using raw materials sourced directly from local suppliers wherever possible, highlighting both Alila's and Omran's commitment to building sustainable projects that have a direct economic benefit for the local community.

In addition, Alila is also committed to an eco-friendly future, the hotel has been especially designed to fit harmoniously with the local building style whilst preserving the natural beauty of the region. "Like Omran, Alila also shares a strong vision for sustainable tourism, making them the ideal partners to take over the management of the project," added Wael al Lawati. With interior design works undertaken by P49 and architectural consultancy by W S Atkins, the project was recently awarded Best Project Design at Dossier Construction Awards and Summit 2013. The design combines traditional elements of Omani design and construction techniques to showcase contemporary architecture that creates a minimalist style with the warm and colourful Jabal Akhdar ethnic influences.

The same is true for each of the 84 Suites and 2 Jabal Villas, named Jouz and Rumman after the Pomegranate and Walnut respectively -- both of which are commonly found in the region. These suites will reflect the Omani history of the destination in the décor, taking in the rich culture of the surroundings and giving it a modern interpretation. The spacious rooms, restaurant and bar, Spa Alila, fitness centre, outdoor and indoor pools with enchanting views of the cliff and mountain, the arrival lounge with its iconic wall of roses and unique stone sculptures, all come together in a perfect blend of nature, heritage, culture and style.
