Tehran, June 5, IRNA - Head of Trade Promotion Organization of Iran (TPOI) said here on Friday a memorandum of understanding (MOU) has been signed with Islamic Republic of Iran Shipping Lines (IRISL) for launching of a regular shipping line in the Caspian Sea.

Valiollah Afkhami said that the main objective of launching the new shipping line is assisting the Iranian exporters for exporting their goods to Russia.

'Currently the existing shipping lines in the Caspian Sea do not have regular lines and actually they do not carry large volumes of goods in each voyage either,' he said.

The TPOI chief said that launching the regular shipping line in the Caspian Sea had been the greatest concern of the Iranian exporters as in the course of the past years both the irregular voyages of the existing shipping lines and the high carriage fares of them had led to lowering the Iranian exports to the littoral countries of the Caspian Sea, next to nothing, especially to Russia, which is one of the major importers of Iranian goods.
