Tehran - Using the new method in deep-sea pipe-laying operation called 'Trashing', Iranian Offshore Engineering and Construction Company (IOEC) will soon launch its pipe laying project in the Gulf of Mexico noted here, Wednesday, an official in the company.
The operation to be carried out soon in the Gulf of Mexico will employ the Trashing Method in which the sea bed drilling and pipe laying calls for the participation of a vast number of divers as well as making use of the modern technology, Iranian Students News Agency (ISNA) quoted Bahari as saying.
He added that the 90-million dollar contract to lay the 36-inch pipeline at the depths of 60 to 70 meters of the sea is a good opportunity for the IOEC to gain new experiences alongside with and in competition with a number of giant U.S. and European oil enterprises.
"The total contract value is about 400 million dollars, however, the Mexican company, PEMEX, is to evaluate our performance in the pipe-laying section of the project and if satisfied, the whole contract would be awarded to us," the director of the IOEC projects also explained.
Elsewhere in his comments, he referred to the departure of Jascon 5, a pipe layer vessel, towards India. Furthermore, the pipe layer vessel Abuzar 1200 will move towards the east of India and will be back in April next year to start the pipe-laying operation for the phases 9 and 10 of the South Pars Oil and Gas Field development phases. He further commented that following the termination of its task in India, Jascon 5 will go back to Mexico for further development of the pipe-laying project there.
