Tehran - Iran is among the top four countries in Asia in field of dental radiology, said the head of the Association of Mouth, Jaw and Face Radiology. Speaking to IRNA on the sidelines of the first seminar on mouth, jaw and face radiology, which opened on Thursday, Ahmad Reza Talaeipour added that dental radiology course was set up in Iran in 1984 while the course was established in US universities in 2000.

Currently, nine universities in the country are offering the course and some 100 professors and associate professors are teaching this discipline in the centers, he noted.

He went on to say that a large number of articles on dentistry radiology by the Iranian specialists are published in the acclaimed international magazines each year.

Sponsored by the association, the seminar is being held to provide an opportunity for the specialists to exchange experience, he noted.

Topics for discussion at the ongoing event include X-ray and its effects, principles of radiography in dental implant as well as medical imaging systems, he said.

Taleipour said that a total of 200 articles have been submitted to the secretariat of the event, of which 120 have been selected for the two-day event. Some 40 will be presented at event and 80 will be offered in the form of posters.
