MUSCAT -- Competence HR, one of the leading recruitment, training, consultants in Oman, has announced its partnership with Indian Institute of Management-Ahmedabad (IIM-A) for management development programmes.
The tie-up was announced at a press conference held at Crowne Plaza by Ali Abduladheem, director, Akansha Chowdhury, principal consultant, both officials of Competence HR, and Dr Bakul Dholakia, director, IIM-A.
As part of its tie-up, four programmes on Finance -- Strategic Asset-Liability Management in Banks, Human Resource Management, Customer Value Based Marketing Management and Strategic Management -- are scheduled for the next few months.
The first of the IIM-A Management Development Programmes to come out of the association between IIM-A and Competence HR was 'Enhancing Leadership Capabilities', held in May at Golden Tulip Hotel, Nizwa.
Amongst the best business schools in the world, IIM-A needs very little introduction. Now, through an alliance with Oman-based Competence HR, the IIM-A is represented in Oman, Qatar and Abu Dhabi.
The number one business school in India and top-rated business school in Asia, the IIM-A was set up in partnership with the Harvard Business School in 1961 and has evolved from being India's premier management institute to become a globally-ranked international school of management. Today IIM-A represents a confluence of the best of Eastern and Western values and boasts a faculty who have worked with several public and private sector organisations facing challenges similar to those faced by organisations operating in developing economies in the Middle East.
Competence HR, specialising in recruitment, training and consulting, is renowned for its management development events which it brought to Oman. These events included 'Who Moved My Cheese?' based on the No. 1 best-selling book by Dr Spencer Johnson, MD, 'Re-Imagine with Tom Peters', featuring the best-selling author himself on his first visit to Oman, Competency Mapping and Performance Management by Dr T. V. Rao, 'Finance for Business Managers' and 'Fire Safety & Risk Assessment' technical seminars. Speaking on the occasion, Ali Abduladheem, director of Competence, said that as a young business organisation, Competence HR had moved from recruitments and begun to target middle and senior level management for HR process consultancy.
"This gave way to management training programmes and event management programmes to develop the managerial skills of the business community in Oman," he added. "We are pleased with the tie-up with IIM-A and you will see that apart from IIM-A programmes, we are bringing other top management development programmes to Oman."
"The latest upcoming events are 'Up Your Service' by Ron Kaufman on September 4 and 'Creating Value by Creating Customer Delight' facilitated by Dr R. L. Bhatia," Ali disclosed. Dr Dholakia in his comments spoke about the past and present activities of IIM-A and said that the partnership with Competence HR is part of the broader plan to expand to larger markets which includes the US and Europe.
"Our true satisfaction will come when we make a difference in the economy of Oman. We want to contribute to the development of Oman through our courses and short duration programmes. We hope that those who attend our programmes will progress, flourish and make a difference in their organisations," added Dr Dholakia.
