With the aim of strengthening communication and coherence with technology transfer agents, the Industrial Innovation Centre (IIC) organised recently the first get-together of the agents who constitute the core communication link between IIC and local universities and colleges.

Dr Hamad bin Hashim al Dhahab, chairman of the IIC, valued the continuous efforts made by the agents. Ahmed bin Ali al Hinai, client manager at IIC, delivered a presentation highlighting the objectives of the centre, which was inaugurated in 2009 as a government organisation parented by The Research Council (TRC) and the Public Establishment for Industrial Estates (PEIE).

The IIC is mandated to assist industrial progression through Research and Development (R&D) and boost a research and innovation culture within Oman's industries, while building capacity by incorporating new national scientific and technological skills.

"The efforts of the IIC in collaboration with an elite group of researchers from various universities and colleges in Oman resulted in the completion of five new projects, which in turn will advance the confidence of industrialists to adopt R&D activities and disseminate innovation culture in the country," Al Hinai said.
