Jumeirah International, the Dubai-based hotel management company, is soft-launching Bab Al Shams Desert Resort and Spa tonight.

The resort, rated as a five-star facility, has 115 well-appointed guestrooms in 16 double-storied, exclusively designed buildings. This is the second such exclusive resort located in the middle of the desert, after Al Maha Desert Resorts, owned by Emirates.

It has five themed restaurants serving a wide range of Arabic and international cuisine as well as meeting facilities. Bab Al Shams is located close to the Endurance Village, a 45-minutes drive from Dubai International Airport and a 50-km drive away from the Burj Al Arab Hotel, Madinat Jumeirah and The Jumeirah Beach Hotel.

The resort is accessible by a dedicated road network.

“Bab Al Shams, or the Gate of the Sun, is the latest resort and spa from Jumeirah International. It is like an architectural wonder that seems to have suddenly come to life in the middle of the desert,” a spokesperson said.

“Offering the ultimate in luxury, comfort and entertainment, at Bab Al Shams, your experience will be complemented by history, splendour and magnificence.”

The unique project will have a spa with a flavour of the Arabian Gulf, as well as four treatment rooms, a gymnasium, a desert swimming pool and a bar with a wide desert view.

Guests will also find an all-day dining facility, live entertainment throughout the resort, children’s play area, a business centre, majlis with bar services and shuttle services from the city. The resort widens the choice of stay for high-end leisure travellers who choose to explore Dubai’s attractions.

“It is designed for Jumeirah International’s exclusive customers, who want to spend some time in a secluded environment,” said Nicholas Ghrayeb, Jumeirah International’s director for marketing. “It will help us to diversify our portfolio of products and services, and attract a wider clientele.

“Construction of the project has already been completed and it will be ready before UAE national day.”
