MUSCAT -- His Majesty Sultan Qaboos will host GCC leaders at the 29th meeting of the Supreme Council of the Gulf Co-operation Council scheduled to be opened today here. His Majesty the Sultan will also lead the welcoming party for the GCC leaders upon their arrival at the Royal Airport. The Diwan of the Royal Court has issued the following statement: In continuation of the march of welfare and friendship among the Arab Gulf Co-operation Council countries and in a bid by the GCC leaders to achieve more prospects and aspirations for the GCC peoples, the 29th session of the GCC Supreme Council will be held in Muscat on Monday and Tuesday, December 29 and 30, 2008.

His Majesty Sultan Qaboos will host the GCC leaders in their blessed meeting and will be leading the welcoming party upon their arrival at the Royal Airport. During this important brotherly meeting, the GCC leaders will discuss all means that achieve further co-operation and integration among GCC countries to achieve welfare and prosperity for their peoples. They will also discuss the issues and international developments to achieve the aspirations of the Arab and Muslim nations and enhance international security and peace.

His Majesty the Sultan will lead the official Omani delegation to the meeting which comprises His Highness Sayyid Fahd bin Mahmood al Said, Deputy Prime Minister for the Council of Ministers, Sayyid Ali bin Hamoud al Busaidy, Minister of the Diwan of the Royal Court, Gen Ali bin Majid al Maamari, Minister of the Royal Office, Yusuf bin Alawi bin Abdallah, Minister Responsible for Foreign Affairs, Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdullah al Hinai, Minister of Justice, Ahmed bin Abdulnabi Macki, Minister of National Economy and Supervisor of the Ministry of Finance, Mohammed bin al Zubair, Adviser to His Majesty the Sultan for Economic Planning Affairs, Dr Ali bin Mohammed bin Moosa, Minister of Health, and Maqbool bin Ali Sultan, Minister of Commerce and Industry. May Allah the Almighty protect His Majesty the Sultan and GCC leaders, grant them good health and support them with success to achieve welfare for their peoples and nations.
