Tunis - Presidential candidate of El-Mahaba current Hechmi Hamdi said, Monday, he withdraws from next November 23 race.

The failure of the current to win a majority of seats in the Assembly of the People's Representatives is behind such a decision, said official spokesperson for Al-Mahaba Said Kharchoufi.

This would prevent the party from forming its next government and implementing its programme, he argued.

The decision follows consultations with the party's structures and representatives at the National Constituent Assembly, Kharchoufi added.

El-Mahaba has not yet decided which candidate to endorse and will make an announcement in due course, he further said.
