The coastal town of Hammamet witnessed on Monday the start of the 64th edition of the Junior International Congress (JCI) which will run through November 21, 2009.
Mr. Ridha Ben Mosbah, Minister of Commerce and Handicrafts, Mr.Jun Sup Shin, JCI President, Mr. Chokri Mamoghli, Secretary of State in charge of Trade and Mr. Hedi Jilani, President of the Tunisian Union of Industry, Commerce and Handicrafts (UTICA), as well as delegations from 120 participating countries were present at the event.
In his opening speech, Mr. Ben Mosbah welcomed the efforts carried out by Tunisian junior chamber in coaching and training youth in leadership and governance, especially in the economic field, in addition to the anchoring of the spirit of citizenship and initiative.
For his part, Mr. Jun Sup Shin highlighted the importance of the responsibility of JCI members to meet the challenges the world currently faces, particularly regarding climate change.
He added that the presence of delegations from different countries overcomes linguistic, cultural religious and demonstrates the crucial role of JCI in identifying appropriate solutions to current challenges in preparing a future based on local action for a global reach.
He also expressed his gratitude to the conference organizers noting that this annual meeting is an opportunity to foster intercultural dialogue, and exchange.
