Majlis Speaker Gholam-Ali Haddad-Adel arrived here on Friday at the head of a parliamentary delegation for a two-day official visit.
Upon arrival in Baku Airport, Haddad-Adel was welcomed by Azeri Deputy Parliament Speaker Ziafat Asqerov and Deputy Foreign Minister Khalif Khalafov as well as Iran's ambassador to Baku Naser Hamidi Zare and officials of Iranian institutions in Baku.
Haddad-Adel told reporters upon arrival in Baku that he is visiting the republic to bolster friendship and close parliamentary relations between the two neighbors.
He said while in Azerbaijan, he will meet and confer with Azeri president, prime minister, parliament speaker and foreign minister.
"Mutual friendship is an issue of high importance for us," he noted.
During his stay in Azerbaijan, Haddad-Adel is to visit tomb of late Azeri president Heidar Aliyev as well as those of Karabakh war victims and to inspect the historical city of Ganjeh.
