RIYADH (Zawya Dow Jones)--The Gulf Cooperation Council of six Arab states may create a judicial body to settle economic and trade disputes, an official said Monday.

"Deputy ministers of finance in the Gulf states will discuss Tuesday in Riyadh the formation of a judicial panel that will be used to settle any claims brought by any GCC citizen or official entity regarding non-implementation of the provisions of the economic agreement," said the government official who declined to be named.

The agreement covers commerce and economic matters within the block of states that includes Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and three other Arab countries.

The Riyadh meeting will also review proposals on issues including customs union and the GCC common market, according to a statement Monday by Mohammed Al Mazroai, assistance secretary general for economic affairs in GCC secretariat general.
