Gulf Air, the national carrier of the Kingdom of Bahrain, made history yesterday with the graduation of the first group of female Bahraini cabin crew.

The eight new crewmembers received their 'wings' at a ceremony at the Gulf Hotel in Adliya yesterday.

The batch was the first group to graduate from a joint-initiative run by the airline and Tamkeen to encourage more Bahrainis, particularly women, to join the national carrier in key customerfacing positions such as flight crew by offering flexible scheduling benefits.

This initiative to qualify female Bahraini cabin crew is part of a larger effort, which has already seen Tamkeen supporting  the training of aeronautical engineers and aviation pilots.

Gulf Air Chief Executive Officer Samer Majali said he  was very excited to see the first batch of Bahraini female crewmembers graduating.
