Shell Development Oman held a graduation ceremony for 103 participants of its training programmes at Crowne Plaza Muscat on Monday. Graduates from different fields were honoured at an event called 'Careers and Prospects 2011' held under the patronage of H E Dr Muna bint Salim al Jardaniah, Undersecretary for Technological and Vocational Training at the Ministry of Manpower.
Jinan Khamees al Salamiah, a graduate of Shell's beauty and and hairdressing programme, said on behalf of her fellow graduates, "The courses presented by Shell were excellent and helped us to build self-confidence.
They guarantee us a fixed income if we join a private institution or set up our own business. On behalf of my fellow graduates, I thank Shell, as well as the Oman Society for Petroleum Services, for providing us opportunities. I also thank the chief guest H E Dr Muna for attending the ceremony."
Hilal bin Yahya al Mawali, Shell Development Oman's general manager for external affairs, said, "Shell Development Oman is always keen on conducting training and vocational programmes. They are aimed at guaranteeing jobs for trainees by linking them to private institutions so they can secure direct recruitment after graduation."
In his presentation, Mawali said, "Social investment programmes conducted by Shell in 2010 were based on four main aspects training for employment, for development, business quality and safety on roads. Programmes were conducted on AutoCAD, welding for people with special needs, debt collecting, beauty and hairdressing."
