MUSCAT -- Gulf International Pipe Industry LLC (GIPI), the first manufacturer of High Pressure Carbon Steel ERW pipes in Oman and the first 24" ERW pipe manufacture in the entire MENA region and the Indian sub-continent, has received full accreditation from the American Petroleum Institute (API), granting it certifications for API 5L, API 5CT, API Spec Q1, ISO 9001:2008 and ISO/TS 29001.
"The API and ISO certifications are recognised worldwide and throughout the oil and gas industry as vital third party endorsement of a product's quality and the quality management system employed by GIPI. This International recognition of GIPI's state of the art Manufacturing facilities, its professional and competent work force and proven quality management system will support us to actively penetrate the market and to optimise the utilisation of the production facilities," stated Hamdan al Shaqsy, Chief Executive Officer of GIPI.
GIPI's fast track recognition by international bodies like API and ISO is testimony to its well executed and managed project delivery and very early preparatory works leading to the API and ISO audits that concluded at the end of January 2010. GIPI has a dedicated team led by the Products Control Department (PCD) which is continuing its work towards certification of the Plant to other prestigious international standards particularly in the field of laboratory facilities such as UKAS certification.
This latest achievement coincided with the grand opening of the manufacturing facility celebrated recently in Sohar. Besides manufacturing pipelines and casings, GIPI also provides external and internal coating, threading facilities, slitting services, and laboratory services.
