KUWAIT CITY: The Gifts Exhibition, an annual expo of varied international products is currently being held in Mishref at the Kuwait International Fairs Ground, Hall 6. The exhibition will continue until Jan 10, 2008. The event -- featuring a variety of handicrafts products, perfumes and cosmetics, arts and antiques, furniture, clothes, shoes and bags among others from countries like Turkey, Lebanon, Jordan, Egypt, Iran, Bahrain, China, India and Pakistan -- was inaugurated by Afnan Al-Sumait, the exhibition manager.

The advertising sponsorship was marked by Zain which raised the awareness and pride in the variety of Arabian and international products, particularly since Kuwait encompasses within a small country an array of nationalities and cultures. Within the exhibition some countries preferred to specialize in certain goods. India for example put up a booth within the hall concentrating on the advertisement and sale of Indian pearls and jewels. Jordan, Lebanon and Palestine on the other hand arranged a promotion of their traditional food and beverages, while Turkey displayed traditional Turkish dresses, garments and modern clothes for oriental women.

The United Arab Emirates and Yemen focused on products that are 'only for women'. These included natural body lotions, and hair and skin treatments made from natural Yemeni honey. Iran as usual presented its Persian handmade carpets and winter covers. Following the inauguration, the exhibition saw a steady stream of visitors across all ages and nationalities, all longing to get a feel of the specialties and general knowledge about different countries. "The turnout has been very encouraging," said Mohannad Numan, marketing and public relations manager of the exhibition. He added this is the second year in succession that the 'Gifts Expo' is being held at this venue.
