The administration council of the General Confederation of Moroccan Companies (CGEM) on Thursday decided to dissolve the federation of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and adopted several resolutions related to the organisation of the confederation, underlined Moulay Hafid Elalamy, president of the CGEM.
The former president of the SMEs Federation, Hammad Kassal, said, at the end of the meeting of the administration council in Casablanca, that the dissolution occurred at the "proposal of the members the SMEs Federation. He added that its members will be able to choose between the different structures which make up the CGEM.
The activities of the federation will henceforth be taken on by the various permanent Commissions, particularly the SME Commission, Kassal added.
He underlined that the decision of the SMEs dissolution was taken last Sept. 20, following the clear and strategic vision for the SMEs sector by the new team of the CGEM.
Speaking in a press conference, Elalamy, head of the CGEM, said the council had appointed Jaouad Sheikh Lahlou as a mediator of the CGEM, and Youssef Alaoui, Faouzi Chabi, Hammad Kassal and Khalida Azabane as vice-presidents.
The Council also named Youssef Alaoui and Mohamed Hdid respectively as Treasurer and Assistant Treasurer and decided to set up an adhoc committee entrusted with getting the different bodies of the CGEM to conform with its statutes, added Elalamy.
On the same occasion, the Council decided to extend, for the Regional Union of Meknes-Tafilalet, the amnesty granted in 2005 to the exercises of 2001 and 2002, during which this Union was closed, and approved new members which were presented to it.
The administration council of the CGEM is composed of the president and general vice-president, presidents of regional unions, the internal and external federations, the commissions, the designated members and the members proposed by associations of women heads of enterprises.
The CGEM now has 14 permanent commissions: law, economy, E-enterprise, emergence, employment, environment, tax system, training, label, logistics, fight against corruption, social proximity, regulations of mediation and the SME.
