Abu Dhabi: Leading IT manufacturer Fujitsu Siemens Computers has been awarded a supply contract by Abu Dhabi Company for Onshore Oil Operators (Adco) for the delivery and installation of 30 Celsius V830 workstations with 60 Scenicview P20-2 high-end, 20-inch monitors.

The Celsius V830 workstation, which supports the latest Dual-Core AMD Opteron processor models 275, 270 and 265 will be used to run Adco's Petroleum Development geophysical applications and geological and reservoir modelling tools on both Linux and 64-bit Windows systems.

"We needed a workstation that was powerful enough to run our high-end seismic and modelling applications which could be seamlessly integrated into our existing environment, whilst also meeting our needs in cost and reliability," said Masoud Al Mughairy, team leader (IS/IT), Adco Petroleum Development Division.

"The Celsius workstation powered by AMD's Opteron processor more than meets these criteria and will be important in the development of our technical platform," he said.

Celsius V830 workstations benefit from AMD-8132 chipset component hyper transport technology, which enables the delivery of high-performance PCI-X 2.0 connectivity to AMD Opteron processor-based systems providing increased throughput, improved RAS (reliability, availability, serviceability) capabilities, robust data management and investigation.
