MANAMA - A new outdoor retail complex with cafes, restaurants and entertainment outlets has been announced by First Bahrain Real Estate Development in the Seef District.

With an investment value of BD10 million ($26.6m), the new development will offer over 40,000 square feet of premium retail space, built on 78,878 sqft plot of land just across the street from City Centre Bahrain.

The developer signed the design contract for the project with Mohammed Al Gharib Architects & Engineers (MGAE) at its stand in the Gulf Property Show yesterday.

On the occasion, First Bahrain chief executive Amin Al Arrayed told the GDN that the project will take design cues from City Walk Dubai – an outdoor retail complex with a tree-lined esplanade and central fountain.

“MGAE took the design elements of this project to a new level and we are eager to see this project come to life,” he added.

“We identified a need for a complementary retail centre with an emphasis on convenience with consideration for the needs of the residents of the surrounding community.”

MGAE managing director Mohammed Al Gharib said the designer’s approach will be to “deliver a superior project with services that will hopefully complement the area”.

Ground-breaking for the project is set for September this year following the award of the construction contract by July.

Completion is due by the end of 2019.

Located along Road 2819, in between a group of new residential towers, the project will provide up to 26 units ranging in size from 320 to 15,600 sqft of leasable area, added Mr Al Arrayed.

The offerings will include food & beverage, an anchor supermarket, entertainment, and services. Two of the units will offer drive-through facilities.

Leasing inquiries for the prime units are now being received by the sales team at First Bahrain.
