Abu Dhabi, February 20th, 2007 (WAM)--The best roadmap for the US to follow is the adoption of an unbiased approachthat treats Arabs and Muslims as partners and not enemies, wrote a major UAE daily.
In an editorial titled "Need for Fairness and Objectivity"the Dubai-based Gulf News stressed that the US should addresscritical issues and problems through dialogue and mediation. "The continuation of its blindly tilted, one-sided policyhas only proven to be fatal and complicated issues further. Thecase in point is the instability and violence that Iraq facestoday. Had the US taken on board Arabs and Muslims as equal partners in addressing the country's ground reality, the dangerousescalation could have well been averted." "On other areas including that of the Palestinian issueand the fight against terrorism, the US has not fared well either. Terrorism has not been eradicated and the Palestinians are yetto realise an independent state of their own." It remarked. The English language paper quoted Arab League Secretary-GeneralAmr Mousa as saying at the recently held US-Islamic World Forumin Doha that the Islamic world does not hate America but it totallydisagrees with its "biased and double standard policies towardsPalestine, Iran's nuclear issue and Iraq." "Such sentiments were more or less the consensus at theforum as it had outlined the key issues of concern: the settlementof the Palestinian issue, fighting terrorism through policiesthat address its root causes and the eradication of poverty. For the Arab and Muslim worlds these are legitimate and reasonableconclusions if any positive change is to take place on theseissues." The paper added. "Reaching out with fairness and objectivity in policy andperspective could lead to the resolution of many complex problems."It concluded.Fair and objective policy is the best road map for US
