LONDON, Nov 29 (Reuters) - Diesel barge premiums over gasoil futures dropped in northwest Europe to their lowest in three weeks on tepid demand for oil products in the region.
Outright barge prices were near a three-month high, however, as the underlying price of front month gasoil climbed, which limited demand for physical supplies of distillates, traders said.
Ultra-low sulphur diesel, or ULSD, and 50ppm heating oil attracted little buying interest.
Heating oil traded at a discount to diesel, but traders did not expect demand to increase in the short term as temperatures in the region were forecast to remain relatively mild.
"There is very little demand. With the 50ppm quote down to single digits, we are seeing some Germans looking for cheap barrels," a barge trader said.
Supplies of gasoil remained relatively limited in northwest Europe as cargoes headed to the Mediterranean and West Africa where demand has been relatively strong, traders said.
