Dubai, Sept.11th, 2007 (WAM): Mohammed Al Qamzi, Etisalat CEO, today called upon his six million mobile customers to help protect the UAE environmentby recycling their old mobile phones at Etisalat's giant exhibition standat GITEX.
Mohammed Al Qamzi said: "Etisalat is an active player in promoting thesocial and economic environment in the markets in which we operate. Wetake great pride in reinforcing a positive environmental message and encouraging people's participation, in accordance to the strategic visionof HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid al Maktoum, Vice President and PrimeMinister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai."He added: "We have a long history of supporting social awareness campaignsand green causes, and were a host and sponsor of the Youth EnvironmentSummit held at the Etisalat Academy earlier this year. Etisalat also offersenvironmentally friendly payment solutions including Mobile Payment, AutoPay and Balance Transfer Services to reduce the need for scratch cards."Etisalat is a sponsor of UAE's National Mobile Phone Recycling Campaign,which is being led by the Telecommunication Regulatory Authority(TRA),FederalMinistryforEnvironmentandWaterand UAE Federal Environment Agency. The campaign aims to educate consumersabout the dangers that old mobile phones present and encourage safe disposalof old mobile phones. Etisalat has consistently supported this initiative through staff seminars,exhibitions and across its retail outlets. There are currently over 55Etisalat business centers and retail outlets which have been fully equippedto support this project.
