ETA Star Property Developers, part of ETA-Ascon Group, has restarted work on its stalled The Summit Tower located between Dubai Media City and Dubai Marina on Sheikh Zayed Road.
"Work has recommenced on The Summit and construction has reached eighth level," said Mohammed Ali, general manager of ETA Star Properties.
The 38-storey tower was originally a commercial tower comprising four basement floors, a ground floor for commercial space, six parking podiums and 31 floors of office space.
The developer has now added residential component to the tower looking at the glut in office space across Dubai. DAR Consult is the architect for the project.
"We have introduced the residential component and the tower will have nearly 200 apartments," he said, and added, "We expect to complete the tower in the next two years."
Associated Construction & Investment Company (Ascon), the civil arm of the successful ETA-Ascon Group, is the main contractor.
In 2007, Dutch Foundation had won a USD 5.3 million (AED 19.7 million) contract to carry out enabling works.
A number of projects in Dubai were put on hold following the global financial crisis, but since the past 18 months, developers are looking at restarting them.
