Abu Dhabi:
Emirates Identity Authority (Emirates ID) and the Marriage Fund have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that aims to adopt the national ID card as a permanent source for the data of the Fund’s beneficiaries.
It will also improve the Fund’s operations, facilitate procedures and develop customer services, by using the data provided by Emirates ID for personal identification and verification of the identities of individuals, said a statement.
The MoU was signed at the Emirates ID headquarters in Abu Dhabi in the presence of Dr Ali Al Khoury, Director General of Emirates ID, and Amer Abdul Jaleel Al Fahim, Board Member of the Marriage Fund.
The MoU stipulates that Emirates ID will provide the technical support to the Fund to read the data stored on the ID card, in addition to managing the unified ID for the purpose of customer identity verification.
Dr Al Khoury said that signing the MoU with the Marriage Fund is part of the keenness of the authority to contribute to the economic and social development witnessed by the country.
He noted that the MoU will contribute to supporting the services provided by the Fund to its customers, like the case of the other authorities and institutions that benefited from the integrated electronic system developed by the authority to manage personal identity data. It supports the country’s quest to build a competitive economy through the federal electronic government plan 2012-2014, and establishing a society enjoying the best living standards.
Al Fahim said the MoU is considered an application and translation of the federal government principles in reinforcing the cooperation and coordination between federal institutions and bodies..
Al Fahim stressed the keenness of the Fund to reinforce the cooperation with the Emirates ID in many fields. The Fund has activated the use of the ID card and adopted it as a main document for transactions such as applying for marriage grants and family counselling services. The fund has benefited from Emirates ID’s data base.
It helps the beneficiaries of the marriage grant and participants in mass marriages. It also helps the Fund obtain credible statistics and conduct research and surveys. Al Fahim appreciated the authority’s role in providing all the available facilities at the registration centres to the fund.
