Emirates is celebrating the 40th anniversary of the UAE's formation by carrying a special anniversary logo, emblazoned on its Airbus A380 aircraft, around the world.

"In recognition of this exciting milestone in the UAE's history, Emirates wanted to find a unique way to celebrate with the people of the UAE, and what better way than taking the 40th anniversary message around the world with our flagship aircraft. The logo will be seen on the five continents that we fly our A380s to on a daily basis," said Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al-Maktoum, chairman and chief executive, Emirates Airline & Group.

The 40th anniversary logo will be carried on the A380 to 16 different airports in 14 countries over the next three months.

Emirates, that has the flag of the UAE incorporated into its aircraft livery, was formed in 1985 and its growth has been synonymous with the growth of the UAE.

Each of the 40th Anniversary logos will be positioned on the left hand side of the aircraft. The final A380 bearing the logo will be rolled out in time for UAE National Day on Dec. 2.

From Nov. 25, Emirates' A380 will also begin serving Munich, followed by Rome on Dec. 1 and Kuala Lumpur on Jan. 1, 2012.

The double decker will operate as EK 049, one of two daily flights from Dubai to Munich and among the airline's 60 flights a week to four gateways in Germany; Munich, Dusseldorf, Hamburg and Frankfurt.

"After gradually building up services to Germany since 1987, Emirates is responding to strong demand by bringing its flagship aircraft to one of its most important markets, adding much-needed seat capacity and stimulating further tourism and trade between Germany, the UAE and beyond," said Thierry Antinori, Emirates' executive vice-president, Passenger Sales Worldwide.
