DAMASCUS - An Egyptian press delegation, currently on a visit to Syria, said they are optimistic that the reforms underway in Syria would help restore safety and security, considering that the draft constitution meets in large part the aspirations of the Syrian people.
Dr. Mohammad Sayyed Ahmad Amin, Secretary of Political Affairs at the Egyptian Nasserist Party, said "We came to Syria to be in touch with the developments and reforms in this country, which prove that Syria is well on the way to development.''
He said the Syrian state responded to the demands of the Syrian people by paving the way for a modern constitution, political pluralism, media freedoms and social justice.
He described the acts of the so-called Syrian opposition in Cairo, especially vandalizing the Syrian embassy in the Egyptian capital, as unethical conduct, lashing out at the inaction of the Egyptian government against such practices.
Abdo Moghraby, editor-in-chief of Al-Balagh Newspaper, said that this is his second visit to Syria, adding that the situation as he saw it is contrary to media reports, especially after the terrorist attacks in Damascus and Aleppo.
The political analyst Elhami al-Meleiji said that the safety in Damascus gives the impression that the situation is moving towards the better, indicating that the delegation intend to visit other areas to inspect the situation there first-hand.
He added that the delegation view the draft constitution as modern compared to other Arab constitutions as it promotes freedoms and social justice.
