ABU DHABI, May 19th, 2013 (WAM) -- Egyptian Ambassador to UAE, Tamer Mansour met today for the second time the Egyptian detainees in a security case. Mansour met them for the first time on March 21st.
The Egyptian envoy said that he ensured that the detainees get dignified accommodation and healthcare, noting that they are in good health and high spirit. He added that he held an open and candid dialogue with them. Mansour pointed out that the detainees assured him that they were in constant contact over the phone with their families, a move he said has significantly reduced isolation and helped solve their families' daily problems. The Egyptian ambassador said that the required consular services were provided to them during his visit, especially regarding the issuance of power of attorney (POA) to their families in Egypt to discharge some family issues. On the sidelines of the visit, Mansour met some UAE officials of the office of the Attorney General, who affirmed to him that the investigations with the detainees were near completion, and that their referral to court would be soon. The Egyptian diplomat pointed out that in response to the Embassy's efforts, and in the light of the Emirati officials' consideration to the state of anxiety experienced by the families of the detainees in the UAE, the Embassy is coordinating with the UAE authorities to arrange a direct meeting between the detainees and their families at the earliest possible opportunity.Copyright Emirates News Agency (WAM) 2013.
