Cairo (APD) - Egypt's Ministry of Communication and Information Technology (MCIT) selected Juniper Networks routing and security solution to start building a nationwide IPv6 network for the Egyptian Universities Network (EUN) and National Research Centers, Juniper Networks said in a statement Tuesday.
The Ministry has selected a comprehensive Juniper Networks routing and security solution to build the nationwide IPv6 network. The network will provide high-speed, secure Internet access and interconnectivity to 26 university and research centers throughout Egypt and will also connect users to the Internet2 community.
"To protect our long-term investment and to provide our academic community with a world-class network in step with the most advanced university networks overseas, MCIT required end-to-end native IPv6 for performance and flexibility, and a solution that delivers superior security and reliability," said, Mostafa Abdel Wahed, director of Telecom Infrastructure Development Sector at MCIT.
To meet their need for fast and reliable throughput of large volumes of data, the ministry and Egyptian Universities Network have deployed M-series multiservice routing platforms that deliver advanced IP/MPLS routing services at scale and providing industry-leading security and reliability.
"With end-to-end IPv6 capabilities, EUN is building one of the most advanced networks in the region, if not the world," said Eddie Minshull, vice president of operations EMEA for Juniper Networks. "This is a gratifying win for Juniper, combining our infrastructure and security capabilities to create a robust networking solution at scale, and is a great example of the value of a secure and assured network infrastructure."
Juniper Networks is the leader in enabling secure and assured communications over a single IP network. The company's purpose-built, high performance IP platforms enable customers to support many different services and applications at scale. [FC]
