Cairo – The Egyptian Ministry of Public Business Sector expects the inauguration of the world's largest spinning and weaving factory in El-Mahalla El-Kubra in the second half (H2) of 2022.

During a meeting with contracting companies setting up the construction works for spinning and weaving factories owned by eight major companies resulting from the merger of 23 companies, the Minister of Public Business Sector, Hesham Tawfik, followed up on the progress of the implementation of these factories, according to a statement on Sunday.

The spinning factory no. 1, set to be the largest in the world, will be built over an area of 62,500 metres by Gama Construction and is expected to be completed in H2-22 with a value of EGP 780 million.

Moreover, the spinning factory no. 4 is being built over an area of 24,600 metres at a value of EGP 251 million by the Engineering Company for Integrated Projects, while the spinning factory no. 6 is being established over an area of 17,700 metres by The Arab Contractors at a value of EGP 216 million.

Meanwhile, the weaving and dyeing factories are being constructed by Orascom Construction over an area of 101,900 metres at a value of EGP 1.1 billion.

In addition, the complex of six factories owned by Misr Spinning, Weaving & Beida Dyers Co. in Kafr El-Dawar is being developed over an area of 175,000 metres at a value of EGP 2.3 billion by the National Co. for General Construction & Supplies.

As for the industrial complex of Damietta for Spinning & Weaving Company, four factories are being built over an area of 103,000 metres by Orascom Construction at a value of EGP 1.5 billion.
