Dubai, 01 Jan. 06 (WAM)--The volume of trade between the UAEand Egypt touched around US $399 million in 2004, of whichUS $ 172 million were imports from the North African country,US $60.5 million in direct UAE exports and US$166.5 million inre-exports.

Egyptian ambassador to the UAE Mohammed Saeed Obaid saidhis country was exploring avenues to open yet more trade andeconomic channels for UAE investments in both the private andpublic sectors.

"Egypt, which maintains strong fraternal relations with UAE,welcomes UAE investments in various industrial, tourism and realestate sectors as the investment atmosphere in our country He said Egypt was particularly keen to lure UAE companiesand businessmen to invest in petrochemical, metal and industrialand electronic fibre projects.

"Last year was a special year for UAE investments in Egypt,the most important of which was an international tourist andresidential resort built by Emaar Real Estate at Muqattam andanother one in the Smart Village in Cairo," pointed Obaid.
