Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian minister of housing Assem El-Gazzar revealed that compensations owed to contractors and suppliers were paid from May 2018 to December 2019 amounted to EGP 14.468 billion.

The total sum represents 83.58% of total dues owed to contractors and suppliers, totalling EGP 17.311 billion, El-Gazzar added in a statement on Monday.

The compensations were earlier approved by the cabinet in line with the decree law no. 84/2017 which stipulates the formation of a supreme committee to regulate the payment of compensations to contractors who work for government projects and were negatively affected by the economic decisions in 2016.
