Dubai: One of the leading cricket academies in Dubai will embark on an Oman tour and play in a series supported by Oman Cricket Board.
Emirates Cricket Training Dubai captained by Ahad Shakil will play in a five match Under-14 series known as Oman Day Cricket Series. This series is organised by Dr Mohammad Irshad Ahmad Siddiqui, Director and Head Coach of Gulf Cricket Centre with the support of Oman Cricket Board.
Speaking to Gulf News, Shakil Latif, the Head Coach of the ECT, said: “All the matches will be 30 overs a side and will be played at the Municipality Ground Amirat- Muscat Oman till December 31.”
Emirates Cricket Training-Dubai established in 1998 has left for Muscat with 13 under-14 players. Former UAE star player Rizwan Latif is the senior coach. Attractive prizes are in offing for the top performers in the tournament like man of the match, best bowler, batsman and fielder.
“This is the second consecutive year we are touring Oman and we are thankful to Oman Embassy in Dubai, Oman Cricket Board and Gulf Cricket Centre in Oman for supporting our tour. The objective of this tour to give opportunity to young upcoming players to play in different conditions,” said Latif.
Dr M. Irshad Siddiqui welcomed this academy team from Dubai and said: “We are delighted to have ECT Dubai here. My objective is to support cricket and cricketers in Oman and this is great learning platform for youngsters to showcase their talent and get recognised.”
